Chow’in Down in Leeds

We can finally go out to eat and drink!

After what felt like the longest winter ever with lockdown v2many, hospitality has now opened up and we can meet up with friends again (albeit outside only).

As soon as the roadmap out of lockdown was released we booked tickets for Chow Down… a food and drinks event based at Temple Arches in Leeds City Centre.

And although it’s raining (it is Spring in England), we’re not going to let that stop us enjoying ourselves.

Walking “into” somewhere to meet up with friends for food and drinks feels a bit of an alien concept after being stuck at home for so long, but it doesn’t take us long to get back into the flow of things once the beers are ordered and we’re looking through the very appetising looking menus!

Food is offered by a range of street food vans, and along with the bar, all orders are done on an app with full table service to ensure the venue is Covid safe. (While there’s loads of things that I can’t wait to come to an end, table service and ordering on your phone is definitely one I’d like to stay!)

I opt for a Pork Gyoza Tray from Big Mouth Gyoza, sold by the idea of Yorkshire Dales pork in a Japanese dumpling, while my friends go for Shawarma Kebabs from Mor Mor, plus some chips for the table.

The gyozas are delicious but are more of a starter portion, and after swapping one for a bit of kebab, I soon make another order for a shawarma kebab of my own! (It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten out so that’s allowed right?!)

The kebab is also very tasty, and with the food washed down with a few pints of Asahi, it’s a great afternoon at a great venue with great friends!
