Life as a Digital Nomad Couple: How We Make It Work

Discover how to thrive as a digital nomad couple — from travel routines and parenting on the road to balancing work, love, and freedom.

“Dustin and I just came back from our very first two-week couple-only holiday in eight years of parenting. We joked before leaving: “Maybe we’ll file for divorce afterwards…” 😅
But the truth? We loved being just the two of us again. Alone time is rare when you’re digital nomads—it’s basically all family, all the time.

Life as a Digital Nomad Couple – How We Make It Work

Travelling full-time as a couple sounds like a dream — and often is — but it also means working, parenting, and problem-solving together every single day. Since 2019, we’ve been living this life with our two daughters, and over the years we’ve learned what truly makes it work.

Our Story: Choosing the Nomad Life

After years of steady jobs and city life in Hamburg, we sold everything and booked a one-way flight to Thailand. What started as a three-month road trip became a long-term journey of freedom, flexibility, and learning how to build a life on the move.

What We Love About It

Being a digital nomad couple has made us a stronger team. Every challenge — from visa runs to school changes — forces us to communicate and adapt. We share everything: travel planning, work, parenting, and adventure. It’s intense, but it’s also deeply connecting.

The Challenges

There’s constant decision-making, zero personal space, and unpredictable work stress. We’ve learned to prioritise privacy, set routines, and keep communication open. Clear roles help too — I plan the logistics while my husband drives the creative side of our projects.

How We Make It Work

We schedule everything, create time apart, and never delay important conversations. Most of all, we remind ourselves why we chose this life — for freedom, connection, and the chance to raise our girls in the world, not just one place.
