“This is one of those articles I truly love writing: a full one-week family itinerary for a place we know inside out — Koh Samui!
We’ve lived on this beautiful island on and off since 2019, and I’ve explored every corner with a baby, a toddler, and now two energetic little girls. This guide is packed with things we’ve actually done (sometimes more than once): peaceful beaches, hidden temples, waterfalls, boat trips to Pig Island, fire shows, jungle cafés, indoor play cafés, and even a sunset cruise on a pirate-style boat.
Whether you’re coming for a short holiday or staying longer, this 7-day plan gives you a realistic, fun, and flexible itinerary that works for little legs — and tired parents, too…”
Explore Koh Samui with Kids – The Perfect 1-Week Family Itinerary
Planning a trip to Koh Samui with kids is one of the best family adventures in Thailand. The island is easy to explore, full of beautiful beaches, and packed with fun things to do. With a little planning, you can mix temples, waterfalls, and beach time into one amazing week.
Temples, Markets and Culture
Begin your trip with a taste of local culture. Visit Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem, two colourful temples that are easy to reach and fascinating for children. Afterwards, head to Fisherman’s Village night market. It’s lively, safe, and filled with music, food stalls, and beach fire shows that kids will love.
Nature and Island Adventures
Next, explore Samui’s green side. Walk through the Secret Buddha Garden and cool off at Na Muang Waterfall. Later, take a short boat trip to Koh Madsum, also known as Pig Island. The kids can feed the friendly pigs and play on the sand while you relax.
Wildlife, Views and Sunset Cruises
Visit Samui Elephant Sanctuary in Chaweng Noi to meet rescued elephants. It’s ethical, calm, and educational. Afterward, stop at Jungle Club for incredible views over Chaweng Bay. End your day with a Red Baron sunset cruise, which feels magical for both adults and kids.
Rainy Day Fun and Relaxation
If the weather turns, head indoors. Try creative play at Le Blocks, climb and jump at Ninja Gym, or visit Central Festival Mall. You can also explore the colourful Mulamati Rainbow Village for crafts and family fun.
