In August 2024, we checked into the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort with our two girls, full of excitement and high expectations. We had loved the Hyatt Regency in Koh Samui, so this stay felt promising—especially with the huge pool, Kids’ Club, and stunning hillside views.

And yes, there were some real highlights: the breakfast was one of the best we’ve had in Thailand, the marine discovery activities were unique and hands-on, and the staff at the pool and restaurants were incredibly kind. The kids made their own pizzas, fed jellyfish, and played in a bright, creative kids’ space while we sipped mojitos on a rooftop with ocean views. It could’ve been a dream family stay.

But… we left early.

The room was dark, noisy, and faced a wall. After trying to switch rooms and getting nowhere, we made the tough call to check out. Luckily, we got a refund for the nights we didn’t stay. Still, it felt disappointing after such a promising start.

In this full review, I share all the details—from the resort’s best features to the things that made us cut the trip short. If you’re planning a family holiday to Phuket and considering Hyatt Regency, I hope this post helps you decide whether it’s the right fit for your crew.
