London Neighbourhood Guide: Best Things to Do in Greenwich
Set beside the River Thames, Greenwich is one of London’s most family-friendly neighbourhoods. With its royal parks, riverside walks, and fascinating history, it’s perfect for a relaxed day out. It’s also easy to reach by Tube, train, or even riverboat.
Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park is one of the city’s oldest green spaces and a local favourite. Let the kids run across the lawns, explore the Queen’s Orchard, or spot deer in the Wilderness Park. Afterwards, enjoy a picnic or grab ice cream near the boating pond. The views across London from the top of the hill are simply stunning.
Royal Observatory and Cutty Sark
Next, walk through the park to the Royal Observatory. Here you can stand on the Prime Meridian Line and visit London’s only planetarium. Then, head down to the river to see the Cutty Sark. Kids will love climbing aboard this historic sailing ship and learning about its voyages. Don’t miss the chance for tea or a climb up the mast!
Old Royal Naval College and Market
Just a short walk away, the Old Royal Naval College is famous for its breathtaking Painted Hall. You can even try a game at the old Skittle Alley. Afterward, stroll through Greenwich Market for handmade crafts, street food, and local art.
Unique Experiences
Finally, walk under the Thames via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel or ride the IFS Cloud Cable Car for amazing views of the O2. Greenwich truly blends adventure, culture, and charm in one riverside neighbourhood.
